Verallia awards its first sustainable supplier award to Cartonplast Ibérica
Verallia, Europe’s 1st and the world’s 3rd largest producer of glass packaging for food and beverages, has launched the first edition of its Sustainable Supplier Award. This prize, awarded to a Group supplier, recognizes its sustainable commitment and the concrete results of its CSR actions.
The aim is to encourage synergies between Verallia and its partners by supporting their efforts in terms of Social and Environmental Responsibility – in line with its purpose to “reimagine glass for a sustainable future”.

Under the aegis of the Group’s Responsible Purchasing team, each Verallia subsidiary was able to identify, propose and motivate the candidacy of one of its suppliers, based on its degree of proactivity in terms of CSR.
Successful candidates were evaluated on criteria of decarbonization and environmental impact, social responsibility, ethics and good governance, circular economy and support for local communities.
The jury, comprising the Group Purchasing Director, Director of Operations, CSR Director and General Counsel, Sustainability Director and Compliance Officer, awarded Cartonplast Ibérica this first 2023 Award.
“The climate emergency calls for us to work collectively and act in synergy to achieve our decarbonization objectives as quickly as possible. We are proud to work with committed partners like Cartonplast Ibérica. That’s what this award is all about: recognizing the commitment of our suppliers and encouraging the deployment of best practices in new markets,” explained Romain Barral, Director of Operations, Verallia.
Cartonplast Ibérica, a subsidiary of the European market leader in reusable transport packaging for the food sector, has distinguished itself by the excellent performance of its actions in the Iberian market. In particular, it has saved more than 270 tonnes of CO2 over the last three years.

The results achieved in three years show that we are on the right track and encourage us to become even more ambitious,” said José María Carrasco, CEO, Cartonplast Ibérica.
