When he started in 2010 in Cognac as a temporary worker in a mechanic-operator position, Julien had no idea what journey lay ahead. As a young heir to a family of glassmakers, he represented the third generation carrying on a tradition at this historic Cognac plant. Surrounded by seasoned colleagues, he learned the ropes) as his forebears had – through oral transmission of know-how.
He was driven by a strong desire to grow within this fascinating industry, having inherited a passion for glass, its transformation, and its capacity to offer innovative, tailor-made solutions. Thanks to his motivation and the training opportunities offered by Verallia, he quickly secured a qualification contract, which led to a permanent position as a process mechanic. This progression even enabled him to temporarily step into a section leader role, revealing his leadership potential.
But his path wasn’t without obstacles. A workforce restructuring disrupted his career plans. In that period of uncertainty, he tapped into his inner strength. Against all odds, an unexpected opportunity arose: a position as “hot end project manager” at the France Technical Center in Chalon-sur-Saône. Despite initial doubts, he seized the chance, knowing it could be a turning point in his career.
The result? Today, he works with all the French sites, handling furnace projects, conducting machine audits, and developing improvement projects for operators. From temp worker to recognized technical specialist, his journey is a true reflection of the Verallia spirit. He owes it to his perseverance, key encounters, and a company that values commitment and supports employee growth.
His goal remains the same: to keep learning, evolving, and contributing to Verallia’s pursuit of excellence. A clear reminder that with determination and the right environment, a temp job can lead to real expertise.
