When Carolina joined Verallia in 2014 as Executive Assistant at the Burgos plant, she discovered a world that immediately resonated with her: the world of glass, a living and sustainable material that she finds both beautiful and fascinating. She discovered not only a fascinating material but also a passionate community of experts committed to perpetuating 200 years of glassmaking know-how.
Over the years, working closely with teams across the plant has given her a deep appreciation for the craftsmanship behind every bottle. She often supports the organisation of visits and enjoys seeing the amazement of those discovering the production process for the first time — moving from the heat of the furnace to the precision of inspection lines.
“People are always surprised” she says, “you don’t always realise the precision, skill and passion it takes to make a bottle, the process feels almost alive.”
These moments have strengthened her own connection to the material and deepened her admiration for a craft that demands coordination, creativity and patience She has seen how colleagues come together every day to design and manufacture innovative glass packaging solutions, transforming raw or recycled glass into something both functional and meaningful.
The turning point in her journey came during the covid-19 pandemic. While most of Spain was under lockdown, the furnaces at Verallia Burgos continued to operate. “Our work was essential — glass packaging couldn’t stop,” she recalls. The experience left a lasting mark and gave her a renewed sense of pride in being part of a dedicated and resilient team.
Behind every bottle, she says, there is a story: challenges overcome, teamwork, shared moments of laughter, and sometimes obstacles — but always a deep, collective passion for glass, a material she describes as “beautiful, sustainable, alive, and full of light for the future.” For Carolina, every bottle reflects Verallia’s commitment to serving thousands of customers worldwide with sustainable and customized solutions.
